Scholarships
If you would like your child to experience a St. Francis Xavier education, please know that we will do everything possible to help make tuition fit within your family budget. We offer the following scholarships for families. Scholarships are awarded in addition to any tuition assistance that is received.
Application process for 2023-2024 begins December 1, 2022 and the

Elementary
The following scholarships are open to students registered to attend Xavier Elementary in the 23-24 school year. Applications can be downloaded by clicking on the scholarship name below. Paper copies are available at Xavier High School. Past recipients may reapply each year.

St. Mary’s School/Catholic Central Legacy Scholarship - To carry on the 150 year tradition of generosity and fraternity associated with our school community, this scholarship has been established in the Xavier Catholic Schools Foundation to help support young families in their decision to send their child(ren) to Xavier Elementary (K-4th grade) schools.
Active members of St. Bernard, St. Joseph and St. Mary Parishes in Appleton, with students registered in Xavier Elementary School are eligible. Three scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to families with $1,000 being awarded the first year and $500 in years two and three.
St. Joseph “Tuition Scholarship” Program - Three scholarships of $2,500 are available to parishioners of St. Joseph who are currently enrolled or considering enrollment in the St. Francis Xavier School System.
Middle School
The following scholarships are open to students registered to attend Xavier Middle School in the 23-24 school year. Applications can be downloaded by clicking on the scholarship name below. Paper copies are available at Xavier High School and Middle School. Past recipients may reapply each year.

Fox Valley Health Professions Scholarship - A one year $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has an interest in science. Applicants are required to choose from two topics and write a 500 word essay.
The Father Michael K. O’Rourke Education Scholarship Fund - Three $400 scholarships will be awarded to St. Francis Xavier Middle School students for the upcoming school year. This scholarship is restricted to students/families who are registered parishioners of St. Mary Parish in Appleton. Applications available at St. Mary Parish in Appleton and in the high school and middle school office.
St. Joseph “Tuition Scholarship” Program - Three scholarships of $2,500 are available to parishioners of St. Joseph who are currently enrolled or considering enrollment in the St. Francis Xavier School System.
High School

Dennis Oudenhoven Memorial Scholarship - Dennis taught at Xavier for 32 years and dedicated his life to making a difference in the lives of thousands of students. He was a beloved coach, teacher, and friend as well as an inspiration for all those who knew him.
A one year $3,500 scholarship will be awarded. Applicants are required to write a personal essay – “What integrity means to me”.
Bradley Williams Memorial Scholarship - Bradley Williams was a member of the XHS class of 2008 and involved in many school activities. He passed away unexpectedly on the practice field in September of 2005 as a sophomore.
A one year $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Applicants are required to write an essay entitled “My Perfect World”.
Fox Valley Health Professions Scholarship - A one year $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has an interest in science. Applicants are required to choose from two topics and write a 500 word essay.
Reverend Donald M. Zuleger Scholarship - Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students based on the following criteria:
- A personal essay entitled “How can a Catholic education impact your current and future role at your Catholic parish?”
- A list of all co-curricular activities and school activities in which you have participated and any positions of responsibility that you held in those activities.
- A list of all parish and community service and volunteering in which you have done and any positions of responsibility that you held in those volunteer activities.
Thomas Meehl Memorial Scholarship - Thomas Meehl passed away in 2008 and was an avid supporter of Catholic education. Tom served many people through his career as a financial advisor. He also gave of his time, talent and treasure to his church and Xavier High School from which his three children graduated.
A one year $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Applicants are required to write an essay on "Why I want to attend St. Francis Xavier High School" as a part of the application process.
William and Margery Stilp Scholarship - William and Margery Stilp put their six children through Xavier High School – Sarah ’66 (deceased in 1971), Sue ’68, John ’70, Tom ’72, Paul ’76 and Kate ’84. Their five surviving children established this fund in honor and memory of their parents.
A one year $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Applicants are required to write an essay ‘describing an experience you had performing community service’ as part of the application process.
John and Agnes Biese Memorial Scholarship - John and Agnes were long-time supporters of Catholic Education and served on a number of Boards and Committees associated with Xavier Catholic Schools. They have been involved with Christmas Stars and hold a special place in their heart for this production.
A one year $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Restricted to students entering grades 10-12 that have been involved in the Christmas Stars production for two years, have a grade point average above 3.25 and have a history of participating in extra-curricular activities. An essay is required.
Raymond P. Georgen Memorial Scholarship - Mr. Georgen was a life-long believer in Catholic education, having attended Saint Ignatius High School in Chicago and receiving his Business degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He credited his professional success to his Catholic education. Mr. Georgen was grandfather to Xavier students, Maria, class of 2011 and Jill, class of 2013.
A renewable scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to an incoming freshman. This scholarship will follow the recipient through his/her four years at St. Francis Xavier High School. Students must remain in good standing to be awarded this scholarship each year. Total award for 4 years is $4,000. Applicants are required to write an essay Picture yourself ten years in the future. How do you think your education at St. Francis Xavier High School will have impacted the pursuit of your personal goals?
Ralph and Ethel Moehring Scholarship - Supporting Excellence in Leadership This scholarship was established by the Moehring family to support leadership as well as scholarship. As members of the original committee to establish a Catholic high school in Appleton, Mr. and Mrs. Moehring recognized the importance of developing good citizens for church, family and community. Students considered for this scholarship should exhibit strong leadership qualities and goals, in addition to a commitment to their education.
A renewable scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to an incoming freshman. This scholarship will follow the recipient through his/her four years at St. Francis Xavier High School. The student must remain in good standing to be awarded this scholarship each year. Applicants are required to write an essay covering multiple topics – explain why it is important for you to attend Xavier High School, to accept leadership roles within your school, church and community and to treat all students and teachers with kindness and respect. Scholarship winners will be expected to participate and organize the annual Ethel Moehring Help Your Neighbor Day.
The Weiske Family Volunteer Scholarship - Fund Restricted to incoming freshmen. Established by the Weiske Family to reward students who go above and beyond in volunteering in their school, church, and community.
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshman entering Xavier High School. Students are required to complete an essay and provide a listing of past volunteer experience.
Parish and High School
Merlin and Joan Brunner Scholarship / St. Mary Parish Appleton - Restricted to parishioners of St. Mary Parish in Appleton. Applicants are required to write an essay on “What do you want to be doing ten years from now and how do you plan to attain it?” One scholarship of $1,000 will be available to incoming freshmen only and will follow the recipient for his/her four years at St. Francis Xavier High School for a total of $4,000. Students must remain in good standing to be awarded the scholarship each year.
St. Joseph “Tuition Scholarship” Program - Three scholarships of $2,500 are available to parishioners of St. Joseph who are currently enrolled or considering enrollment in the St. Francis Xavier School System.
St. John’s Little Chute Parish/School Scholarship Opportunities - A scholarship fund has been established to help St. John students attend St. Francis Xavier High School. An anonymous donor from St. John Parish has set up a fund in the Catholic Foundation of the Green Bay Diocese that helps provide scholarship assistance to students from St. John’s. In addition, there is also a bequest from the Stephen Eckes Estate that will provide additional tuition scholarships for students who attend St. John’s.
If your family is a member of St. John’s Parish or attended St. John’s Elementary School please complete the application found on line or at the main office at the high school to be considered for either of these scholarships.
St. Ignatius Kaukauna Catholic School System Scholarships - Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen from the St. Ignatius -Kaukauna Catholic School System. Applicants are required to complete a 250 word essay on why they want to attend Xavier High School.
College
The following scholarships are available to any Xavier High School senior looking to attend a post-secondary institution. All scholarships awarded will be sent directly to the College or University that the recipient will be attending.
The Gladys Wisnefski Memorial Scholarship - Established by the Wisnefski family this $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has excelled in the study of foreign language while at Xavier. Special priority will be given to individuals looking to study foreign language or international affairs at the college level.
The Worachek Family Entrepreneurism College Scholarship - Established by the Worachek family, this $1,500 College Scholarship is awarded to a Xavier High School senior who has displayed an ongoing interest in business or entrepreneurism. Applicants are expected to complete an essay and provide a personal resume.
The Anna Donnermeyer Memorial Scholarship - Established by the Donnermeyer family, this $500 College Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has demonstrated service to their local parish above and beyond the Xavier High School 20-hour commitment, service to their community and treats others in a Christ-like manner. Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
St. Francis Xavier Religious Studies Scholarship - This $300 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who is considering higher level education in: theology, religious studies, ministry work, Peace Corps, missionaries, religious counseling, biblical studies, Christian studies, religious teacher, worship arts, parish counselor, etc. Applicants are asked to complete two personal essays.
Fine Arts Scholarship Opportunity
The following scholarship is available from Christmas Stars.
Christmas Stars Fine Arts Scholarship - Christmas Stars, sponsored by the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System, provides scholarships to assist St. Francis Xavier students participating in enrichment experiences related to their fine arts activities.
Students may apply for financial help to attend a camp, workshop, lessons or courses that will assist them in improving their skills in music, drama, dance or art; or funds can be used to pay fees such as Orchestra, Band or Chorus Fees. Scholarships will be awarded based upon the number of applications, the quality of the applications, available funds and possibly on financial need. If you are awarded a scholarship, the amount will be reimbursed to you upon completion of the fine arts activity. If you have applied for a scholarship to help pay for band, chorus, or orchestra fees, your account will automatically be credited the scholarship amount.

Ave Maria Court #1011 Catholic High School Scholarship - Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to Catholic students registered at a Catholic High School for the 23-24 academic year. Application Due: May 1, 2023
National Court Incoming Freshman Scholarship - The National Court will award two $1000 scholarships to Catholic 8th grade students registered in 9th grade at a Catholic High School for the 23-24 academic year. Application Due: April 1, 2023
