A Commitment to Excellence and Belonging: Opening Wide our Hearts

“As Christians, we are called to listen and know the stories of our brothers and sisters.  We must create opportunities to hear, with open hearts, the tragic stories that are deeply imprinted on the lives of our brothers and sisters, if we are to be moved with empathy to promote justice.” Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love - A Pastoral Letter Against Racism.

The St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System is committed to continuing to work towards the common good and to address injustices in our schools, in our community and in our world. Therefore, as members of Xavier’s leadership team we are called to address racial injustices and we commit to:

  • continue ongoing discussions with representatives of equity committee

  • address racism within the schools

  • continue efforts to diversify our student body and make sure the all students and families feel welcomed and valued in our schools

  • offer professional development for faculty in cultural competency

  • generate a more representative curriculum
