The Xavier Theatre Academy is an intensive learning/performance experience for serious, impassioned performers and technicians.
The objective of the academy is to involve committed students in a fully-staged play or musical using professional practices while educating them in all aspects of theatrical production.
Auditions (for performers) and interviews (for technicians) are open to all interested students who meet the age requirements.
Each season, the Xavier Theatre Academy holds two sessions: a 75-minute show is produced in June, available to students currently in
Grades 5 – 9, and a 30-minute show held in late July, available to students currently in Grades 1 - 9.

This is a general timeline of the academy schedule and is subject to change by season; to be notified when audition dates are released, please join the academy email list via the academy webpage.

An Audition Workshop is held in winter/early spring and is highly recommended for students interested in auditioning for either or both shows. The workshops are intended to constructively build the skills the student needs for a successful audition.  Music, dance combinations and scenes that will be used in the actual audition are covered in the workshop. Parents are encouraged to attend a short orientation before the workshop. (See the “Frequently Asked Questions” section for more information.)

Students interested in performing must participate in a general audition, which are scheduled by appointment via the online registration. General casting for both shows will be released approximately one week after general auditions are completed. Xavier Theatre Academy is NOT a no-cut audition.
Select students will be considered for specific roles based on their performance in the general auditions. These students will be invited to attend callback auditions.
See the “Schedules” section for specific workshop, callback, and audition dates.

Students interested in participating as technicians do not need to attend the auditions or audition workshops.  After filling out the online academy registration, eligible candidates will be invited to an interview.  No technical experience is required. Technician candidates must currently be in Grades 5 – 9.

Some early rehearsals for Show One are held in spring with the bulk of the rehearsals for both shows held on weekday afternoons once school is out of session.  Please see the “Schedules” or “Frequently Asked Questions” sections for more information.
